Utahns tie for 4th at Jr. America's Cup

BOISE - Despite shooting its worst round of the tournament Thursday, the Utah contingent tied for fourth at the Boys' Jr. America's Cup at the Crane Creek Country Club.

The Utahns combined to shoot a third-round 225 for a total of 662, well back of Washington's tournament-leading 216. Washington took the overall title with a three-day total of 647.

Scott Hailes, who earlier shot a second-round 65 to pull the four-man Utah team into contention, could only manage a 76 in the final round. Jared Overton led the final-day Utah charge with a 74. Blair Bingham shot a 75 and Tad Hunt added a 76.

Y. names MacDonald women's tennis coach

Former BYU All-American tennis player Tracy Tanner MacDonald has been appointed head women's tennis coach at Brigham Young University.

The announcement was made Thursday by Lu Wallace, women's athletic director at BYU.

MacDonald replaces Ann Valentine, who was recently named associate director for women's athletics at BYU.

MacDonald was formerly the General Manager for the Ridge Athletic Club.

Jazz Dancer auditions

Auditions for the 1995-96 Utah Jazz Dancers will be held this Saturday at the Delta Center. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with tryouts from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Enter the Delta Center through the main building doors on the northeast (South Temple/3rd West) side.
