Kali, an Asian elephant, has turned 50 and will be celebrating with a birthday party today at Hogle Zoo. Everybody is invited.

At 11 a.m. visitors will be able to sing "Happy Birthday" and watch as Kali is presented with a special birthday cake made of fruits and vegetables frozen in ice, in addition to bread baked in the shape of a "50."Visitors may sign Kali's birthday card as part of Cream o' Weber and FM-100's "Walk for the Animals" promotion, said Gary Tingey, zoo promotions coordinator.

Kali has been at the zoo longer than any other animal. She was born in the wild in 1945 and has been at the zoo since 1954, Tingey said.

Zoo admission prices are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens 65 years of age and older and children 4 through 14. Children under three will be admitted free. The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
