DEATH: MARIE ANSON DAYNES SMITH

Our kind and dearly beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away August 2, 1995 in St. George, Utah.

The daughter of Mary Ann Anson and John Frederick Daynes, she was born and reared in Salt Lake City. She attended Salt Lake City Schools, LDS High School and the University of Utah. In 1928 she served a mission for the LDS Church in Hawaii where, in part, she worked with the Leper Colony on the Island of Molokai.Upon her return to Utah she married Fisher James Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1930. They have been married nearly 65 years and have lived in Utah, California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona. Recently they moved to St. George from Tucson. Marie resided in Provo for many years and was involved in community, church and club activities. She and her husband opened the Daynes Jewelry Co. in Provo and later the Fisher Smith Jewelry Co.

Her brothers and sisters who preceded her in death were John F. Daynes, Lincoln A. Daynes, Jean Daynes McCoubrey, and Arline Daynes Ostler. One brother survives, Robert F. Daynes. She is also survived by her husband and her daughters, Karen Smith Oehler of St. George, Utah and Jeraldine Smith Randall of Williamsburg, Virginia and the following grandchildren: Terri White, Tana White Holm, Greg White, Shelly Randall Millard, Nancy Randall Mackey and Tami Randall Relick. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a very special place in her heart.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 7, 1995 at 1 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Elmdale Section), 3401 South Highland Drive. Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary from 11:45-12:45 prior to service.
