UVSC TO CELEBRATE POLYNESIAN CULTURE

A week of events at Utah Valley State College will offer Utahns the chance to experience Polynesian culture without leaving the state.

The week begins with food booths and an opening ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 4 p.m. A concert at 7 p.m. will feature the Jets, Kapena and Sakiusa. All events will be held in the UVSC Courtyard and Activity Center on campus.Activities, shows and workshops will continue Friday through Sunday, Aug. 13, with a Polynesian ball Friday at 8 p.m. in the UVSC ballroom. Sunday's activities will be held at the Salt Lake Tabernacle and include choir performances and an interfaith fireside at 6 and 7 p.m. respectively.

Salt Lake City will host a Polynesian Festival Saturday, Aug. 19, at Salt Lake Community College, 4600 S. Redwood Road, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. All activities are free and include dancing, games and food.
