Kim, 11, born on Feb. 21, 1984, is a caring young lady who can be charming and fun to be with. She likes to play with friends and enjoyed the photography class she took last year. Kim does well in school academically, even though she's easily distracted and sometimes doesn't complete her work on time. She'll be in sixth grade this fall.

Since 1986, Kim has been in several foster homes, spent some time in residential treatment and, since January 1995, has been in a group home. Kim gets along well with adults and other children but can be manipulative and controlling and doesn't like to take responsibility for her own actions. She has good intentions, is eager to help, and the behavior management techniques her foster motheruses are effective. In the past, Kim often pushed people away, but she seems more willing to get close to people now. In group therapy, Kim is often supportive and encouraging to others but she can go overboard when she tries to give directions to the other children as though she were the adult in charge.

Kim wants to belong to a family, and her social worker feels she might do best as the youngest child at home. Financial assistance is available to cover some of the costs of adoption and ongoing therapy. This will be a legal risk placement until the termination of her unknown father's parental rights are completed.
