Perhaps John Grisham had time to kill.

The best-selling author became a gum-chewing, cleat-wearing coach for a Little League baseball team this past weekend in Vicksburg, Miss.Grisham, who wrote "A Time to Kill," "The Firm" and "The Rainmaker," attended the Governor's Cup, a statewide baseball tournament. He coached a team that included his 12-year-old son, Ty.

The author, who splits time between homes in Oxford and Charlottesville, Va., returned to Mississippi with his family in July after Virginia's Little League season ended.

In between innings, Grisham signed autographs.

"No one wanted me to sign baseballs when I played," he joked. "I wasn't any good."
