A team of Utah students placed third in the International Future Problem Solving Conference in Rhode Island last month. The conference focused on solving problems associated with privacy.

Participants were: Jason Steorts, Bountiful High School; Chris DeMoux, Bountiful High School; Melissa Clark, Woods Cross High School; Sara Stromness, Woods Cross High School; and Becca Hodgkinson, Brighton High School. The Utah participants are all sophomores. The team was coached by Karol Behling.The conference was the culmination of a yearlong project in which students are challenged to solve problems related to various topics of global significance. Utah students won a third place award in competitions with 57 teams from United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The program teaches students how to solve world problems and implement solutions. The trip was the Utah team's third to international competition.
