A transient man was struck and killed Saturday by a car that swerved off Harrison Boulevard onto the roadside, then sped away.
Although the vehicle was later recovered by police, its driver has not been found Monday.Killed was:
Jose Manual Hilario-Hinojo, in his 30s.
The vehicle, described as a gray, 1987 Chevrolet two-door sedan, was traveling south on Harrison Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. when it veered off the road and struck the man, witnesses told police. The car swerved to the right and hit Hilario-Hinojo with the right, front side of the vehicle, Ogden police Lt. Jon Greiner said.
The transient man was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Greiner said.
Police searched the man's belongings for some clue to his identity and kin. They found evidence he had spent time in a Montana jail recently and anticipate the jail may have information regarding his relatives.
