Our beloved father, brother and grandfather, Jose "Joe" Demetrio Salazar, 62, of Salt Lake City died on August 5, 1995, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born January 20, 1933, in Las Nutrias, New Mexico, to Cipriano and Adelida Romero Salazar. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and for four years in Germany. He married Dorothy May Arealino; later divorced. He was employed by Utah Barrel.He is survived by five sons, Anthony, Gregory, Pete, Deio and Jeff, all of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Pete Jr., J.J. and Demetrio; two brothers, George (Katherine) Salazar of Naturita, Colo.; and Ben Salazar of Salt Lake City; four sisters, Bea (Lupe) Jiminez of Salt Lake City; Eliria (Nick) Trujillo of Delta, Colo.; Letta (Fred) Vigil of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Shirley (Tom) May of Seattle, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Ed; and two sisters, Genevive and Stella.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South. A vigil service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South, where friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Committal, Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
