A Salina man that some law enforcement officers have called the "marijuana king" for drug-dealing activities has received three concurrent sentences of up to five years each in the state prison.

Eugene Peterson, 37, was also fined $5,000 by the 6th District Court.Following a nine-month sting operation by the Quad County Drug Task Force, Peterson was arrested at his home on Jan 31. Task Force Director Juri Strong said at the time that officers believed he was extensively involved in drug dealings in Sevier and Sanpete counties.

On April 4 he pleaded guilty to three second-degree felony charges of distribution of a controlled substance and one third-degree felony charge of distribution of a controlled substance.

Civil proceedings are being filed in Sevier County to take Peterson's car and home, said County Attorney Don Brown.
