U.S. GIVES U.N. $2.1 MILLION TO FIGHT CHILD EXPLOITATION

The United States has forwarded $2.1 million to help combat child prostitution in Thailand and exploitation of children in Bangladesh.

"Not only is it tragic that in many parts of the globe children must forfeit their education in order to work, but many of them work in brutal, slave-like conditions," Jack Otero, deputy undersecretary of labor, said Monday.The money will go to projects of the United Nations' International Labor Organization.
