The unanimous vote was the council's final attempt to eradicate advertising benches where buses are "nowhere to be found," Councilman Gary Ferrero said. City Attorney Craig Hall noted that at one time, 70 percent of the bus benches in high traffic areas were illegal. Bus patrons waiting at the "stops" complained in the past about city buses passing them by.With the new resolution, all benches in violation will be picked up by the Murray Streets Department as abandoned property.
