Lorna Brown Hoggan Bean, age 79, died August 5, 1995 in Overlake Hospital, Bellevue, Wash.
She was born in Logan, Utah, February 20, 1916, the fifth of six children of James Henry Brown III and Laura Andersen Larsen. Her early childhood was spend in Logan and she moved with her parents to Salt Lake City in the late '20's. She graduated from East High School in 1935. Her first job was as a "dispenser" at Coombs Drug Store and she worked as a car-hop at Hires Drive-In on 4th South and State Street. She married Martin Watt "Brick" Hoggan in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 6, 1937 where they resided for two years while he worked for the Dupont Company.They returned to Utah in 1940 and lived in Richfield and Blackfoot, Idaho before settling in Salt Lake City. Brick died in 1952, leaving Lorna a widow with two sons to raise by herself, while working for 15 years at the International Harvester Company, and at the William Volker Company until she retired in 1980. She married Eugene Urcile Bean October 8, 1980 and moved to his home in Seattle, Wash. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints working in many teaching positions and in the Relief Society. Lorna and Eugene spent much of their later years in church service.
She is survived by her husband; and her sister, Wanda Brown Bean; and her two sons, David Martin Hoggan and his wife, Alto Jo, and James Michael Hoggan and his wife, Diane; 11 Hoggan grandchildren, and 11 Hoggan great-grandchildren. Also by five Bean stepchildren and their spouses, Larry and Portia Bean, Ron and Lois Bean, Kent Bean, Liz Bean, and Robert and Cathy Bean, 26 Bean grandchildren, and 16 Bean great-grandchildren.
In Bellevue a memorial service is planned for Wednesday, August 9, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. at the LDS Chapel at 16035 Northrup Way. In Salt Lake a graveside service will be held Friday, August 11, 1995 at 11 a.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery where Lorna will be interred by her first husband.
