Voters in the unincorporated area of Snyderville Basin have approved a $7.5 million bond for recreational facilities.

The Snyderville Basin Recreation Service District board is looking at buying 30 acres near Utah 224 just below the Winter Sports Park to build a multipurpose field for soccer, baseball and football plus tennis and basketball courts.

It marks the third voter-endorsed property-tax increase in the area this year. Voters in the Snyderville Basin and adjacent Park City in February overwhelmingly approved a property-tax increase to fund $31.5 million in school construction and $4.5 million in classroom-equipment purchases in the Park City School District. A technicality forced a second vote in June on the smaller issue, but it won handily again. Taken together, the increases amounted to about $150 annually per $100,000 of property value.
