SYRACUSE MAY SEEK WATER CONTRACT

Low water pressure plagues the city's secondary water system, and the City Council wants options increasing the water flow.

The latest possible solution involves negotiations with the Davis & Weber Canal Co. According to Mayor Michael Garrett, the City Council discussed Tuesday the possibility of the canal company taking over the system."We've been exploring it for some time," he said.

Garrett said the city now seeks legal advice regarding the canal company working out a deal with the city. No decision has yet been made. This issue is expected to be discussed at future council meetings.

He said besides low pressure in portions of the city, there is also a need for more storage capacity. The canal company could possibly solve both problems.
