SHARE WRITING CONTEST SEEKS ENTRIES FROM HEARING-IMPAIRED

The Utah chapter of the Alexander Graham Bell Association is inviting all Utah junior and senior high school students with a functional hearing loss to participate in its ninth annual creative writing competition.

Original entries, limited to one per student and due by Nov. 30, may comprise an essay, a short story or poetry. Two first place prizes of $75 and three second place prizes of $35 will be awarded.The contest is intended to encourage the development of writing skills among hearing-impaired youth. Though he is best known for the invention of the telephone, Bell, whose wife was deaf, spent much of his life working with and teaching deaf people.
