Martha Frieda Zbinden Gubler Hill Goodfellow, 95, mother, grandmother and long-time neighbor, passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 20, 1995 while enjoying the cool afternoon air, working in her garden.

Born April 23, 1900 in Switzerland to Ulrich and Elisa Faver Zbinden. With the pioneer spirit and following their faith, her family moved to America when she was eight years old to where she was raised in Logan, Utah.Taking upon herself her mother's lifetime vow to "remain true and faithful to the Lord to the very end", she was a lifelong member of the LDS Jordan View Ward. She held such positions as stake missionary, homemaking instructor, and Relief Society president. Martha took great pride in her independence and it was her passion to be self-sufficient as she maintained her own home and garden with faithful visits from her loving sons. She reluctantly gave up driving after having terrorized the roads well into her 90's.

Martha was known for her gentle and loving nature toward small children and her great-grandchildren, always finding time to take an interest in their small precious lives. It was not uncommon to find her defending the young ones from rough housing older kids, masterfully wielding her cane with the heart of a lion. She loved her family and made herself an important part of their lives.

She was preceded from mortality by two of her sons, Larry and Arlynn Hill; her first husband, Walter Gubler, to whom she was sealed; her second husband, Gordon Hill; and her late husband, JC Goodfellow. Coming from a family of 12 children, she is survived by her youngest son, Nathan Hill, 13 wonderful grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Emile Zbinden; sisters, Helen Buck and Ida Beck.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25th, 12 noon, at the Jordan View Ward, 1456 West 2320 South (access from Redwood Road (1700 West) and 2320 South. Friends and family may call Sunday, 6-8 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment: Logan City Cemetery.
