Lane M. Cheney has been named artistic director of the Salt Lake Men's Choir, replacing Douglas Kinney.

A native of Cody, Wyo., Cheney holds a degree in music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J. While there, he studied conducting with Constantina Tsolainou and Alan Crowell and was a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir.Previously he served as organ-ist/choirmaster of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Park City and is currently director of music at First United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City. He also directs the University of Utah Women's Choir.

The Salt Lake Men's Choir first concert under its new director is scheduled Dec. 10 at First Presbyterian Church.
