For more than a decade Highland High football parents have received a weekly newsletter accentuating the positive aspects of the program.
"I think what it does is keep people informed about what we are doing," said Highland coach Tom Kingsford. "It just gives a different perspective."And how. Over the years former players, alumni and boosters have taken turns penning the updates. Few, however, will compare to the approach taken by Clark Nielsen. Addressing his readers by such titles as Parentis Locos and Ram Gente, Nielsen has added a literary touch to the publication. Ralph W. Emerson, D.H. Lawrence and Rudyard Kipling are among those quoted.

`MAC' VS. MACHINE: Perhaps it's only fitting that Mr. Mac (Mac Christensen) was involved in a "tie" that "suited" mankind just fine in the latest installment of the DesNews' Man vs. Machine Challenge. The famed retailer finished in a draw (32-7) with Noland Parry's computer-generated Power Guide - thus, perserving Mankind's five-game season lead (133-128).
