A helicopter plunged into one of the world's deepest lakes Saturday, and authorities said there were no survivors.

It was not immediately known how many people were aboard. Searchers doubted the aircraft could be recovered from Crater Lake, which is about 1,000 feet deep at the crash site and as deep as 2,000 feet elsewhere."Rescue personnel are at the scene, but the aircraft has not been pulled up out of the water. And at this point, we don't know if it can be pulled up out of the water," said Jeff Guzzetti, air safety investigator with the National Transportation and Safety Board.

Documents and other floating debris enabled investigators to identify the owner, American Euro Copter of Grand Prairie, Texas, Guzzetti said. The NTSB was questioning the company.
