Bruce Willis is using his financial muscle to strengthen his hometown of Penns Grove, N.J.

The star of "Die Hard" has invested nearly $1 million through his company, Screwball Inc., to redevelop a chunk of rundown riverfront property."I'd just like to see it come back to life," he said.

The property includes a pier that pokes out into the Delaware River, an 11-acre tract, a vacant bank building where his mother once worked and a house. Willis said a five-year project is in the works; specific plans weren't available.
