David John Thornton, 77 of Sandy, died September 4, 1995 at his home.
He was born December 31, 1917 in Blackfoot, Idaho to John and Elizabeth Anna Harbaugh Thornton. He served in the US Army in World War II where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He married Leatha Virginia Neill on July 3, 1943. She died May 11, 1975. He married Teresa M. Kimball on July 23, 1976.He was a vice president for Transamerica Film Service, retiring in 1985. He was an honorary member of the Idaho State Pharmaceutical Association. he was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish of the Catholic Church. He loved to fish and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; son, D. John Thornton of Boise, Idaho; stepdaughters, Deborah (Curtis) Ward and Cari (Dave) Meabon; stepson, Mark (Debbie) Kimball, all of Salt Lake City; and 11 grandchildren; sisters, Maude, Mary and Laura; brothers, Don, Harry and Byron. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Elizabeth and brothers, Richard, William, Ivan and Fred.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9800 So. 1700 East. A vigil service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Neil O'Donnell and Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 So., where friends may call from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Committal: Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
