The local Social Security office will be limited in the kind and amount of services it can offer from Friday to Monday. The office is in the final stages of remodeling.
"There will be times that we will have no telephones and no computer access," said Randy Marchant, manager of the Provo office."Because we are a telephone service center for much of rural Utah, planners had not given us an adequate waiting room. As the federal government has downsized, we have lost staff. We are remodeling in order to expand the waiting room and make other improvements."
Marchant suggests that people avoid calling or visiting the office until after Sept. 15. During that period, the national toll-free line (1-800-772-1213) will be operational.
