Switzerland's Bruno Kernen on Saturday became the 13th skier in history to win two straight World Cup downhill races on the same course.

Greeted by deafening cow bells and cheers as the new local hero, Kernen was timed in 2 minutes, 2.69 seconds, down the icy 3,500-meter Bear Course, .80 seconds ahead of his nearest rivals.Luc Alphand of France, the downhill leader and defending champion, and Austria's Patrick Ortlieb, second in the downhill standings and the 1992 Olympic champion, tied for second at 2:03.49.
