Doris Cowley 43, of Provo, Utah a loving sister, aunt, and friend died October 24, 1996 after a courageous struggle with cancer.

She was born July 8, 1953 in Richfield, Utah to A. Merrill and Marva Dawn Stewart Cowley.Doris is survived by four brothers, one sister and their spouses, Russell and Deb Cowley, Richfield; Virginia and Kim Bredsguard, Venice, UT; Stewart and JaLayne Cowley, Orem; Bryan and Cristina Cowley, Orem; Dale and Julie Cowley, Salt Lake; ten nieces and eight nephews. Preceded in death by her parents.

Doris lived the last 22 years in Provo, Utah where she worked as executive secretary at Wasatch Mental Health Center. She has touched many lives as a loyal friend and associate. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in many capacities throughout her life. Doris took on the role of "Grandma" for her nieces and nephews, keeping up holiday traditions, birthdays, and special family events. She was active in family history research, especially in compiling histories of her ancestors and parents. She leaves a great legacy of service, friendship, kindness, and love.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 28, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant View 8th LDS Ward Chapel (1060 E. 2400 N., Provo, UT.) Friends may call at the chapel in Provo Sunday, 6-7:30 p.m. and again on Monday 9 to 10:30 a.m. An informal gathering will be held Monday at 3 p.m. Venice LDS Ward prior to the Burial in the Venice Cemetery.
