Kaysville
In its Oct. 22 meeting, the City Council:
- Reviewed its cemetery regulations and decided to rely on increased police patrols to curb thefts in the cemetery.
- Appointed Sue Parsell and Michelle Johnson to the city's Board of Adjustments.
- Discussed the sale of land in the Kaysville Business Park; assigned councilman Robert Rees to study land prices in business parks and recommend if the city should raise its prices.
- Councilman Brian Cook asked the city to study impact fees to determine the best ways for Kaysville to save funds for future road work.
Clearfield
In its Oct. 22 meeting, the City Council:
- Approved the rezone of property at 435 S. Main from manufacturing to business to allow Davis District to operate an alternative junior high school there for one year. The building formerly housed Pioneer Elementary School and the Pioneer Adult Rehabilitation Center.
- Voted to not rezone 18 acres at 550 S. State from commercial to multifamily housing.
- Recognized finance director Debbie Cardenas as one of 29 members of the Municipal Treasurer's Association who maintained certified finance credentials during 1995-96.
- Recognized Maxine Layton, city business license official, for completing her education requirements to become a Certified National Licensing Official.
- Announced an interest to annex 17.5 acres, located south of Melanie Acres on South Main.
Syracuse
In its Oct. 22 meeting, the City Council:
- Approved two small subdivisions, totaling 6 lots.
- Approved Mountain View Estates, Phase 5, eight lots on 2300 South east of 1000 West.
- Approved curb, gutter and sidewalk requirements for areas where all engineering work and storm drain systems are already in place. Waivers will be given for homes built along such areas as 1700 South, 2000 West and 2700 South.
- Discussed open space requirements and sent a recommendation to the Planning Commission for further study.
West Point
In its Oct. 22 meeting, the City Council:
- Appointed Gary M. Kapp as mayor pro-tem for two weeks.
- Reviewed the 1997 budget for the Davis County Mosquito Abatement Board and decided not to approve it. The council voted to request a board member attend a future meeting to answer budget questions.
