An 8-inch water main broke Friday, leaving Clover Meadows and Clover Crest area residents without water during the morning hours.

Tom DeSpain, operations manager for the Murray Public Works Administration, said water pipes and mains frequently break this time of year because of the fluctuating temperature of the soil as winter approaches. The broken main was repaired before noon.
