Six people were injured in a series of accidents that spread from Centerville to Farmington in the northbound lanes of I-15 late Friday morning. Utah Highway Patrol troopers estimate more than 30 vehicles were involved in the series of five-car and six-car pileups that started around 11:30 a.m.

Capt. Jim Rampton of the South Davis Fire Department said six persons were taken to Lakeview Hospital, but none of the injuries appeared serious. Five ambulances, three from the fire district and two from the Bountiful Fire Department, responded to the scene.Rampton said one victim required extrication.

Traffic in the northbound lanes was diverted off the freeway at Centerville, but cars were still backed up for several miles until the damaged vehicles were moved from the highway.
