And there had many things transpired which, in the eyes of some, would be great and marvelous; nevertheless, they cannot all be written in this book; yea, this book cannot contain even a hundredth part of what was done among so many people in the space of twenty and five years; - 3 Ne. 5:8.

As a committee, we had worked for weeks, preparing a history for our ward's 25th anniversary. Now, it was almost ready to go to the printer. Just one thing was lacking - an appropriate scripture to start it off.

Prayerfully I sat down and leafed through the Book of Mormon. There, almost leaping from the page, was this scripture. I could hardly believe my eyes; it fit in every particular.

Since that day, time and time again I have found in the scriptures, and particularly the Book of Mormon, advice or descriptions that could have been written that very day. Sometimes I can hardly believe a certain passage was there the last time I read the book. How could I have overlooked something so relevant? Yet this happens again and again. The answer, of course, is that we and our perspectives are different each time we read.

The books I used in school have long since been outdated. Our college students even find that one quarter's texts are considered obsolete by the next term. But the Lord's text books, the scriptures, are based on unchanging truths. How blessed we are to have them available!
