My criticism of Chris Cannon's TV ads are:
1. He uses George Bush - who when America was demanding federal intervention to stimulate the recession of 1991 and 1992, did nothing and stood by the "trickle down," trust the rich, trust corporate America, trust the corporate raider and pension raider, and trust the "high risk/high yield" stock and real estate speculators and venture capitalists attitude. Chris Cannon is an advocate of such predatory practices. Do we really need more of that?2. In regards to tax credits for children, that is great if you have children and a family, but what if you don't? Cannon is also blindly jumping on the Dole 15 percent tax cut; a tax cut is great, but what about the budget and the deficit?
At least Congressman Bill Orton does not blindly indulge in partisan politics. He is realistic and has a conscience. And at least Orton is ethical and patriotic enough to properly list his assets for tax purposes.
Venture capitalists and employers seem to forget that employees, consumers and small investors are their "bread and butter." America is made up "of the People" who contribute and sacrifice their blood and sweat and emotional well-being to produce a product or service that some person buys or sells. I may not agree completely with Orton, but I am voting for him because he is at least going to take such issues into account when he negotiates and sponsors legislation.
