A Salt Lake County man has been charged in the Tuesday aggravated kidnapping of a South Salt Lake woman.

The man, 43, entered the woman's house, awoke her and told her he was going to hurt her mentally and physically, according to 3rd District Court documents. The woman asked him to leave.Instead, the suspect dragged her out of the room by the hair, the documents say. The woman tried to defend herself, but the man grabbed her by the waist and threw her against a wall.

The man also held a knife to the woman's throat and ordered her to write a letter, the documents say. The assault continued for two hours, until police arrived, the documents say. The man has been charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies, and is being held in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
