Mervin L. Stephens, died Saturday, October 26, 1996.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather.He was born December 9, 1903, in Hennefer, Utah, a son of Frederick Jones and Lucy Lavender Stephens. He married Erma Alice Perkins, December 19, 1928 and later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He worked for the Bamberger Railroad as a motorman for many years, then he became a bus driver for Lake Shore Bus Lines until he retired in 1972. After retirement, he became the water master on Holmes Creek Irrigation Co. He enjoyed his family and gardening and was always the most loving and generous man. He was high priest in the LDS Church and an active member in the Kaysville 20th Ward. He lived in Layton and Kaysville and was educated in Davis County Schools.
Surviving are his wife; four sons and two daughters, Lowell M. (Luain) Stephens, Kaysville; Bonnie (Claude) Dahl, West Point; Jack (Pat) Stephens, Kaysville; Layne W. Stephens, Kaysville; Linda (Craig) Whitesides, Layton; Var (Terrie) Stephens, Morgan. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Stella Peterson; Lucille Hardy; Dorothy Poulter, and Mildred Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the Mutton Hollow 20th Ward LDS Chapel, 855 East Mutton Hollow Road, Kaysville, Utah. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main, and Wednesday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Kaysville City Cemetery.
