Marilyn Louise Drecksel Hill, age 64, died at home on October 26, 1996, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 26, 1932 in Salt Lake City to Walter Otto and Thelma Victoria Reid Drecksel. Married Kenneth Boyd Hill on June 9, 1950 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.She was active in the LDS Church holding positions in the Young Women organization and most known as the Ward Librarian. She worked at the Wasatch Villa Nursing Home as a housekeeper for 20 years. A very giving person, she always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She will be remembered to all who knew her by her smile and kind words. The greatest joy of her life was her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Otto Drecksel and a grandson, Michael Robert Hill. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Boyd Hill; mother, Thelma Victoria Drecksel; two brothers, Norman and Louis Drecksel; a sister, Doreen Staley, all of Salt Lake City; all of her six children, Kenneth B., Salt Lake City; Frank R., Red Lodge, Montana; Tammy C. (King); Kevin L.;

Robyn A. (Barnes); Brian K., all of Salt Lake City; 22 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.

We will remember the gracious friendly smile that you've always shared, not only with us but with everyone you met. The warm embrace of brothers and sisters in the Gospel, your willingness to do what ever was asked of you and above all your great love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for our Savior, for your faithfulness and dedication in every situation. You are truly a wonderful example of goodness and a great pillar of strength.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon, October 29, 1996 in the Kenwood Ward Chapel, 3080 South 1765 East. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel on Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
