A judge has added an indeterminate life in prison term on top of Michael DeCorso's sentence of life without parole.
DeCorso, convicted of capital murder two weeks ago in the death of Margaret Ann Martinez, pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of aggravated robbery in an unrelated case.Third District Homer F. Wilkinson ordered DeCorso, 27, to serve five years to life for robbing Estefana Velarde in February 1995. DeCorso was originally charged with aggravated kidnapping, sexual assault and attempted aggravated murder in connection with the case.
Prosecutors said DeCorso picked up Velarde, 50, while she was hitchhiking on 1300 East, handcuffed her to a drink tray in his van, sexually assaulted her and tried to kill her by twice running her down with his van.
He pleaded guilty in exchange for prosecutors dropping all but the aggravated robbery charge against him.
DeCorso still faces several charges linked to three separate cases.
