Old political saying: Ignore what they say, watch what they do.

Congressman Bill Orton claims to be a conservative based on his positions regarding gun control, abortion and a balanced budget. The NRA will find to its dismay that when the chips are down, Orton will vote for some sort of gun control, as did liberal Tom Foley when his vote was important to controllers.

Orton voted against requiring parental notification for an abortion. The teenager will qualify for an abortion, medication and contraceptives.

Orton voted to allow lawyers to continue their frivolous lawsuits. Consumers, therefore, must pay higher prices for lawyers and miss out on new products, as companies are reluctant to introduce them due to possible (probable) lawsuits.

Orton is for campaign reform yet he has received three times the amount from PACs that Congressman Hansen has.

Bill Orton serves two masters. The Trial Lawyers Association and the labor leaders . . . not the union members.

He claims to be a member of a conservative Democrat group. All they are is a holding action trying to hold onto as much power for Washington as they can. They call themselves Blue Dog Democrats. That's OK by me; I just think they got the color wrong. Does Mr. Orton support Bill Clinton's re-election?
