Alabama and West Virginia, unbeatens no longer, tumbled in The Associated Press' Top 25 college football poll, while top-ranked Florida picked up support without playing.
The Crimson Tide (7-1), 20-13 losers to Tennessee, fell from No. 7 to No. 10 in Sunday's balloting by the 67 sports writers and broadcasters who vote in the poll. The Mountaineers (7-1) were beaten by Miami 10-7 and dropped from No. 12 to No. 18.The Gators (7-0) remained on top for the sixth straight week with 59 first-place votes and 1,666 points. Last week, Florida had 57 first-place votes.
The top six positions were unchanged from last week. Ohio State (7-0), with a 38-26 win over Iowa, was second, followed by Florida State, Arizona State, Nebraska and Tennessee.
The Buckeyes received four first-place votes and 1,579 points, while the Seminoles (6-0) had three first-place votes and 1,563 points after a 31-24 win over Virginia. The Sun Devils (8-0), 41-9 winners over Stanford, had the other first-place vote and 1,481 points.
Nebraska (6-1) was a 63-7 winner over Kansas.
Despite their win over Alabama, the Volunteers (5-1) remained sixth, followed by Colorado, North Carolina, Michigan and the Crimson Tide.
Northwestern, a 27-24 winner over Illinois, was 11th, followed by LSU, Brigham Young, Kansas State, Penn State, Virginia, Wyoming, West Virginia, Notre Dame, Utah, Washington, Miami, Southern Mississippi, Auburn and Iowa.
Virginia fell from 14th to 16th after its loss to Florida State, while Iowa dropped five spots after its loss to Ohio State.
Five teams are undefeated in the Top 25 - Florida, Ohio State, Florida State, Arizona State and Wyoming. One other Division I-A team - Army (7-0) - is unbeaten but did not make the Top 25.
With its win over West Virginia, Miami moved from No. 25 to No. 22.
There were no new teams in the Top 25 this week.
