The City Council has approved a 90-day moratorium on all rezone requests in the city's performance zone while a special committee studies the zoning ordinance.

According to City Manager Dennis Cluff, the moratorium went into effect immediately and will continue until late January. He said the city is looking at its first major zoning ordinance revisions since 1989."We're looking at zoning in general," Cluff said, explaining the nine-member committee is looking at the performance zone first, but will also study other areas - such as single family residential rezoning - as well.

He said the performance zone contains all the city's commercial property and multi-family housing areas.
