Betty Mae Shelley Sumbot, age 65, our beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, returned home to her Heavenly Father Oct. 26, 1996, in Salt Lake due to natural causes.

She was born on May 18, 1931, in Mountainville, Utah, to David A. and Geneva McArthur Shelley. On October 25, 1957, she married her eternal companion and sweetheart, Robert Anthony Sumbot in the Manti LDS Temple. She was devoted to her husband and they were inseparable during their 39-year marriage. She graduated top of her class from North Sanpete High School in 1949. She attended Snow College and served an LDS Mission to the Northwestern Mission from 1955-57.

Her most prized possession in life was her family. She was a loving and kind mother who was always there for us. She showed us how we should live our lives and taught us by example. She spent many hours with her children and later with her grandchildren. She was unselfish and kind, always putting her family first. One of her greatest joys in life was her grandchildren. She loved playing with them and teaching them. They all feel that they have lost their best friend. She loves them and they love her so very much.

She was always willing to serve others. She participated and helped many community service organizations. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life. Her favorite callings were teaching Relief Society and the Gospel Doctrine Class in the Midvale 4th Ward. Her most recent calling that brought her much joy and happiness was being a temple worker in the Bountiful LDS Temple.
