A blocked field goal attempt with six seconds remaining lifted Ogden to a 15-12 victory over Ben Lomond Monday - costing the Scots a postseason appearance and hopes of ending the Tigers' three-year possession of the "Iron Horse" traveling trophy.

"That's a nice way to end it," Ogden coach Steve Coburn said of the season-ending game that left both teams with 1-8 records, 1-5 in Region 5 play.Ben Lomond could have forced a Tuesday tiebreaker with Sky View had it prevailed. Instead, the Bobcats will face Spanish Fork in the 4A inter-region playoffs on Friday.

The Scots' plans were unraveled when Tiger defender John Martinez blocked a 22-yard field goal attempt in the closing seconds that would have forced overtime. Ogden had overcome a 12-7 deficit in the fourth quarter when quarterback Blake Moore teamed with Micah Berger on a 60-yard scoring strike. Tom Beasley ran in for the two-point conversion to provide what proved to be the winning margin. The Tigers led 7-0 in the second quarter when Randy Williams scored on a 1-yard run and Dane Kidman added the PAT.

Ben Lomond countered with a pair of touchdown runs - one in the second and third quarter - by Emmitt White. The Scot rusher, who finished with 94 yards, reached the end zone on runs of 28 and 7 yards. Ben Lomond, however, failed to convert extra points on either score.

Ogden's defense recovered three fumbles in the contest.
