The Utah Education Association has given Rep. Bill Orton a continuing recommendation for his efforts against federal budget cuts to education.
"Some issues cross party lines, and support for education is one of those," said Phyllis Sorensen, UEA president. "We appreciate Bill Orton because he makes decisions about education not based on partisanship, but because he cares about education."While many Republicans in Congress worked to cut funding for the Department of Education, safe and drug-free schools and public libraries, Orton proposed a federal budget that emphasized enhanced education and training programs.
The UEA has 18,000 members statewide.
