Doctors delivered a baby from the body of a woman killed a half-hour earlier by a runaway car.
Doctors said Monday it will be at least 48 hours before they know whether the baby boy suffered serious brain damage. The baby, who was in critical condition, may have lost too much oxygen between his mother's death and the delivery."That much time is pushing our abilities to their limit," said Dr. Francis Mimouni, director of the hospital's neonatal unit. "The baby was alive at birth, but required a great deal of resuscitation."
Carol Crupi, 36, who was nearly nine months pregnant, was killed around noon Monday as she walked with her 4-year-old daughter Nicole to a preschool program in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn.
