The surprise announcement that the entire Broadway "Les Miserables" cast will be replaced by a new 10th anniversary cast means that the production's national touring cast - which includes several Utahns - is heading, at least temporarily, for Broadway.
The touring cast, currently on the East Coast, will be filling in on Broadway for five weeks while that production goes through new auditions and recasting. Utahns now in the touring company include Kurk Davidson (Courfeyrac and Jean Valjean standby), Jenell Brook Slack (Young Cosette/Young Eponine) and Holly Jo Crane (ensemble), plus D.B. Bonds (Joly), who is not from Utah but who was chosen during the Utah "Les Miz" auditions in the fall of 1995 following his work in the Utah Musical Theatre production of "Forever Plaid."Slack had already been scheduled to go into the Broadway production during the Thanksgiving holidays, while some members of that cast join the touring company in Philadelphia (a move made so that the New York performers could play before their "home-town" crowd in Philadelphia).
