A U.S. F-16 fighter flies over two Patriot missile launchers at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea during joint U.S.-Korean exercises. Embarrassed South Korean naval officers Wednesday admitted an anti-submarine exercise was under way last month when a North Korean submarine sneaked in unnoticed. The Shark-class North Korean vessel ran aground off the eastern city of Kangnung on Sept. 17 as it tried to pick up three spies it offloaded two days earlier, according to the only North Korean captured alive from the vessel.
