Glen LaVar Humphries, 81, passed away October 28, 1996 in Sandy, Utah.
He was born November 2, 1914 in Hinckley, Utah, the son of Charles Edward and Harriet Taylor Humphries.He married Gertrude Sauer December 27, 1940 in Provo, Utah; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on November 16, 1943. Worked with his father and brother in the honey bee business. He was a welder at Chicago Bridge and Iron Company for 10 years, after which he decided to become a barber and enjoyed his profession until he retired in 1980.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many leadership positions. He was a High Priest Group leader, counselor in the bishopric, High Council member seven years and home teacher for over 50 years. He will always be remembered for his dependability, his compassion for others and his willingness to help those in need. He enjoyed talking with people and sharing with them his humorous stories and unending wit. His joy in life was being with his family. Glen particularly loved to play with his grandchildren and tell them stories.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; two sons, Ronald (Shirley), Richard (Margie), both of Orem; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Emerald Q. Thayne (Vonda), Overton, Nev.; brothers, Max J. Humphries, Wayne Humphires, Delta; and Ray Brown, Hinckley.
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses of the Sandy Regional Care Center for their devotion and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 1, 1996 at 12 noon, at Belview LDS Ward, 6300 South 300 East, Murray. Viewing will be held from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
