Provo's Dean Mendenhall Post 13 of the American Legion will sponsor a Veterans Day program at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the Provo Tabernacle.

The event will feature Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, and the Utah National Guard Band. The Brigham Young University Air Force ROTC will present the national and service colors.On Monday, Nov. 11, a parade will begin at 10 a.m. starting at 100 North and Freedom Boulevard. It will proceed to 500 North, where it will disband. The parade grand marshal will be Maj. Gen. (retired) James G. Andrus, U.S. Air Force.

Following the parade, the Independence High School ROTC rifle team will fire a 21-gun salute in ceremonies at the Eldred Center, 200 W. 500 North, as the American flag is posted at half-mast. The flag ceremony is held on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month to commemorate the Armistice ending World War I in 1918.

After the flag ceremony there will be a short service and lunch will be served. The cost of the lunch is by donation.

The public, and particularly veterans, are invited to participate in these celebrations. The event is sponsored by the American Legion, the Retired Officer's Association, the Disabled American Veterans, the Provo Veterans offices, the Provo Golden "K" Kiwanis and the Provo Veterans Council.
