Janet Brazier Mitchell Samuelson, 82, died October 29, 1996, at a Salt Lake City hospital following a heart attack. The youngest of seven children, she was born November 25, 1913 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph and Susan Liberta Brazier Mitchell. She married Cecil Osborn Samuelson, April 4, 1940, in the Salt Lake Temple.
She attended the Salt Lake City public schools, graduating from East High School. She subsequently received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Utah. She taught at the Hamilton School in Salt Lake City.She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in all the auxiliary organizations.
She focused her attention on her children and grandchildren and delighted in their activities. She was generous with her time and talents, and many have enjoyed her homemade candy and crocheted handiwork.
She is survived by her sister, Alice Lillywhite of Provo, and by her five children: Cecil Osborn, Jr. (Sharon), Solihull, England; Kent Mitchell (Lise); Carol Middleton (Anthony); Janet Scharman (Brent); and Wayne Mitchell (Marianne); 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by her husband, brother Robert Mitchell, sisters, Susannah Heath, Sarah Olsen, Lucy Lunt and Elizabeth Nielson.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 2, 1996 at the Holladay 26th Ward Chapel, 4601 South 2565 East. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and Saturday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at the chapel prior to services.
