The mapping division of the Utah County Public Works Department has made available the 1996 edition of the Utah County Atlas.

"This full-color atlas is the best set of maps of Utah County that has ever been available," said division director Donald Nay.The atlas contains 62 pages of detailed maps that show roads, streams, city boundaries, railroads, public lands, campgrounds, parks and a host of other geographic features. The atlas also contains 17 pages of reference maps that show elevations, geologic hazards, vegetation coverage, ores and minerals, temperature, precipitation and population.

A major feature of the atlas is a comprehensive index of all roads and other items that are shown on the maps. The Public Works Department particularly encourages emergency service personnel, real estate professionals, educators and anyone else who wants to find their way around the county or learn more about the geography of Utah County, to purchase an atlas.

The atlas is $15 and is available at the mapping division, 2855 S. State, and at the County Recorder's Office, 100 E. Center, Room 1300.
