A 10-year-old boy was pinned in his own front yard and mauled to death by a roaming pack of six Rottweilers.
The dogs that killed Corey Hines on Thursday escaped from a yard with an electrified fence and were roaming the streets in a pack when they descended on the boy."They were all over him. You couldn't even see the child," said witness Vicki Anderson.
"He was chewed up and had severe injuries to his face, head and neck. It was terrible," said Lakes Wales police Detective Lori Rap-pold.
No charges had been lodged against the owner, Tracey Parker, 28.
Neighbors said Corey was an extraordinarily friendly, polite boy.
"I told my family what a nice little man he was. He gave me inspiration about kids today," Marvin Stokes said.
Stokes said the dogs had gotten loose several times in the past and neighbors were uncomfortable with them.
Polk County Animal Control impounded the 60- to 80-pound dogs and will seek a court order to destroy them.
