HOWARD ARRESTED: Washington Bullets forward Juwan Howard was arrested for drunken driving and is due in court next month.

A District of Columbia police officer arrested Howard about 3:45 a.m., after his 1995 Mercedes was spotted speeding after leaving a nearby club.Howard, known for his work ethic and charitable work around Washington in two years with the Bullets, had signed a seven-year, $100 million dollar contract with the Miami Heat in July. Within a month, the NBA voided the deal because it exceeded the Heat's salary cap.

Re-signed by the Bullets, Howard said he didn't want to leave Washington and called his return, "truly a blessing."

OLAJUWON HONORED: Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets won the first NBA player of the week award this season.

Olajuwon led the Rockets to six straight victories, four on the road, averaging 28.7 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
