Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on November 11, 1996.
He was born on February 24, 1914, the tenth of eleven children of Enoch and Ellen Livingston Smith. He married Margaret Smyth, his high school sweetheart on September 1, 1934. At LDS High School he excelled in athletics, lettering in football, basketball and track. He also attended the University of Utah. Participating in sports was important through out his life. Fly fishing and playing golf were the two he enjoyed most. He was a member of the Salt Lake Country Club where he served as president for two years. Active as a Utah contractor for 50 years, he founded Enoch Smith Sons Company with his three brothers and served as local President of the Associated General Contractors and as a National Director. He had been a member of the Rotary Club for many years. Enoch's love for animals resulted in his raising many breeds. Dogs, pigeons, cattle, sheep, chinchilla and horses. However, the American Saddlebred horses were his favorites, and he raised many World Champions. He also served as President of the Utah Horse Association.Preceded in death by a daughter, Maurine and a son, Michael Robert. Survived by his wife, Margaret; a son and daughter-in-law, Enoch Richard (Dick) and Linda; three grandchildren, Teresa Ann; Enoch L. (Lynda); and Nathan (Melanie); two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alexa; two sisters, Mrs. David Buchanan (Ruth) and Mrs. Dale Wild (Mary) and one brother Louis L. Smith.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 1996, 12 p.m. at the Ensign 5th Ward, 589 E. 18th Avenue. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary 260 E. South Temple and one hour prior to the funeral at the Ensign Ward.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Primary Children's Hospital, 100 No. Medical Dr., Salt Lake City, UT. 84113.
Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
